Abode Outside uses knitwear construction. Why?
Abode Outside uses knitwear construction. Why?
Knitwear construction is typically softer and more environmentally friendly than traditional "cut and sew" manufacturing.
In traditional cut and sew manufacturing, sheets of fabric are cut into various pieces of the garment (sleeves, body panels, etc.) and then stitched together. This creates wastage and more pronounced seams. This is the most common method primarily because it is cheap and fast.
Knitwear manufacturing involves using spools of various types and colors of yarn, weaving them together to create garments. This process is less wasteful and results in a garment that is softer, less rigid, retains its shape, and offers a more textured, appealing look.
Through knitwear construction we can create interesting textures like cables and ribs, and eye-catching patterns like jacquards and herringbone.
Using knitwear manufacturing, we can create tops for any occasion or climate. Sweaters are not only for the holidays. Sweaters can be incredibly lightweight and breathable for Spring and Summer or cozy and warm for Fall and Winter.
We offer both casual lifestyle sweaters and functional, performance knits. Using carefully sourced yarns, we have created our own performance blend called EcoSmooth™ that uses yarn from recycled polyester and wood pulp. This unique, eco-friendly yarn blend is ultra-soft, moisture-wicking, breathable and odor-resistant. Perfect for keeping you comfortable wherever the day takes you.
